Sudden "kick" forward when car is switching from 1st to 2nd
Been noticing this the past week. Often times from a stop, when accelerating the car will "kick" or lurch forward when switching from 1st to second it feels like. The feeling is like I got rear-ended by another car. This only happens at low speed.
I have the 16 SS Vert A8 |

yep. that 1st 1-2 shift after sitting is weird. Many here experience it. It usually goes away after the 1st or 2nd stop. If you gas it a little harder, it won't do it.

Yea same here. It's just the performance shift in either sport or track mode. Put it in touring and it's less noticeable.

Yes, I have this also from time to time. Mine is in track mode and this seems to happen generally under light throttle. With a bit more throttle it smooths out. Strange. Bothers me a bit but not that much.

If this also happens when the car is not cold, then TSB #16-NA-019 may apply.
I just had it done and all is well. i got the number from the nice, Brand-Quality person that was at CamaroFest. I wish I got her name! |

Interesting. What is done for this TSB? Is this something that can be done DIY?

I have had this issue too; I have the 2.0 A8. This also happens when rolling (5-10 mph) in 2nd gear. The car will give a few little lurches upon gentle acceleration and continue smoothly after. Maybe that TSB will fix that as well. In tour mode, it is the same for me as in Sport mode.
Unfortunately I have just learned to never downshift past 3rd gear and dealt with it. It may be time to get it fixed

Assuming other service procedures (TCM updates and fluid flush for TCC issues) have been done to fix issues on the 8-Speed this would be the final step after the transmission is properly filled with the new HP fluid depending on when the vehicle was built.
Fast learn adapts would be performed first by the technician but it is unlikely they would be able to drive the vehicle to learn the fill time on all the clutches as directed in the bulletin given variations in areas and driving conditions. The C4 clutch is most critical for 1-2 upshifts and you have to do 15 light throttle upshifts (at 15%) throttle to get it to learn properly. That's tricky to do... |
