H-Pipe review
So I installed my H-Pipe a week ago to go along with my rear cat delete and my flowmaster super 10's..... Just wanted to share some of my thoughts and experiences so far....
The sound- Sadly, it quieted the car quite a bit... I don't know if it was just my setup or if its universal but my car is not nearly as loud as it once was... The pops and crackles are significantly louder though. The power- The car honestly feels like it woke up from a deep sleep.. It feels way faster after putting the H pipe in. I've taken many friends on rides before and after and even they can feel the huge difference. Verdict- I have mixed feelings about my H pipe... i love how much faster and fun it feels but I really miss how my car sounded with the stock X pipe... Maybe theres a way I can get the sound back without losing any torque??? I'm open to suggestions... [IMG] [/IMG]

Straight pipe instead of Super 10's? That would be a cheap route, but not sure how good the tone would be. Interesting that compared to the guy who has the Borla S type with H-pipe his was deeper/louder afterwards. Who knows, I'm gonna try it on mine, I have the Borla Atak axleback w/ secondary cat delete. As long as it's deep, I think I'd take the more torque feeling over loudness.

Motortrend did a video on straight, h, and x pipes. X pipes did the best. Very slightly better, but the best. They also claimed it sounded better too.

Also the H pipe they used in their video is completely different than the H pipe in my car

Their H pipe was rather rudimentary, I will admit.

It had literally 2 hp more. You're not feeling that.

Sort of makes me question why wasn't the H-pipe put in there in the first place.. Or why aftermarket exhausts don't tend to lean to H-pipe designs. I see X-pipe to always be the main design of choice

If you look at the X pipe under the stock camaro. Its not a true X pipe. Its curved and wavy... maybe a real X pipe would be slightly better than my h pipe?

True enough. I always had a preference for a H pipe though as far as sound is concerned. I truly don't believe that 2-3ish HP is really worth it for us regular street folk

I also have J pipes installed on my car... maybe removing them will bring back the sound?

Yup saw that. It's also what most manufacturers are seeing on an 'actual' dyno vs 'butt-dyno'
