ZL1 Waylens footage/track input

I took my car to the track Friday and got about 10 runs in. This car is so hard to launch. Best I could get was a 12.4 @ 121mph and a 2.1 60'. Last run we hooked HPTuners to data log. It shows timing being pulled as soon as we launched the car.
So after a ton of research on here and looking at Cwebsters write and post I decided to try what he was doing. Track mode, no launch control, TC off, SC on and launch at 4K RPM. 2nd run which is the video, I hit Rev limiter thinking I could make it in 3rd, cost me 5 mph. Lesson learned.
I took the car back to a business park to get some practice in. It's going to take a lot more reps but I figured I'd share the videos.

ahh looks awesome! I was bummed on my Mustang that the ODBII boost didn't show up on my WayLens. Good to know it works on the Camaro

What's up with the G-force meter and the crackling in the audio?

Just out of curiosity, why is it hard to launch?

I didn't hear any crackling of the audio, I have on other videos though, I don't know where it comes from. The G-force meter is reacting to the car rocking, it doesn't help if the camera isn't perfectly square, it will read as pitch and roll......I've only had the camera since Friday so I'm still learning.

The M6 cars pull timing if you try to launch them using Launch Control, there's a few post on here about it, after I left the track and did some research I read that it's best not to use the launch control and to leave SC on and it will help. I intend on tuning the car once my pulley comes in and we can fix the timing issue in Torque Management.

Yeah, it seems to be bogging out of the hole. I like that Waylens set up.

yeah for sure, it's hard to get the camera perfectly zero'd on the windshield

The manual transmission ZL1 is not hard to launch, it's next to impossible to launch. I keep telling people there is a legitimate issue with the car, but it seems a lot of people assume the car is perfect just because one guy achieved a good time by double-clutching and fooling the computer into not pulling timing.

I started this thread a while back to document an investigation into what I believe is a related cause. Feel free to skip to post #97 and read the attached summary which contains the latest information I sent to GM.

Of course, that's how it works. It's there for consistency, not for best times.

The M6 seems to pull timing regardless of whether Launch Control is used. I've launched several times without Launch Control and the car still falls on its face. I believe it is part of the Performance Traction Management software that is interfering based on wheel slip (regardless of Traction Control, Stabilitrak, Launch Control, Drive Mode, etc..)

Of course if you have great traction, and little-to-no slip, torque management cuts the power. So basically you're screwed either way.

That's how it's documented, but if you drive the M6 ZL1 at the track (and maybe you have) you'll see that it feels more like a problem than a design for consistency.

Thanks, folks.

The Mustang had the clutch protection as well, which would, in theory, engage TC and pull timing cooperatively.

So, sounds like tuning would fix this.

Its also a "Fail Safe" to avoid lots of warranty issue from repeated drivetrain shock loading from a HP WOT Launch.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a "COPO" Mode and launch like a COPO Camaro.https://youtu.be/6qItrfYVw-E
