Installing Black Bowties

Hi all,

I saw some threads about this but I had a few questions on my own. Regarding the black bowties, is it possible to install this myself without ruining something?

The part I am looking to buy is here.

From what I understand, the front emblem is held in place by clips. Do I just pull it out? And the back emblem is apparently glued on, so do I use floss/fishing line to get that out cleanly?

Has anyone installed this particular emblem set on their vehicle? If so, was installation easy?

Thank you.

Havent used that particular set but did swap mine out. I removed the rear by just heating it up with a heat gun and pulling it off. I used a trim tool on the front emblem. Worked the right side until I could get a grip with my fingers and then just pulled it. Pretty easy to remove both

That was pretty cool. I had no idea that the chrome outlines could be used with inserts. I thought the whole emblem would need to be replaced. Pretty clever way to do it all too, with the drilling. 😎👍🏻

I would think that they'd want to drill before heat so that the glue is more compliant when you start trying to lift if vs. heat, drill/cool, lift...

See that's the thing...I don't have a heat gun nor a garage to work in. In NYC it's hard to find a place to work on your car...so I'd have to do this on the sidewalk.

You can do this whole thing with a couple big trim tools off Amazon for 15 bucks, some Goo gone, some fishing line and a lot of elbow grease, right at the curb. Discussed many times in the cosmetic section of the forum.

well you can do what my dealer did and use a plastic pry bar to pry the rear off. onLy had to repaint the trunk lid.
they gave it to a kid who had no idea how to remove a badge.
