VTC for ZL1...

The ZL1 has some really terrible throttle lag thru the drive-by wire system. It is probably the worst I've ever experienced in an car. The power it has, once the car gets rolling, is tremendous. But from a start it's kinda dead-ish. I did a Roto-Fab CAI and a Katech ported TB hoping it would help...and it did. But it just wasn't enough I am not gonna tune this car and void my warranty soo soon. SO my only other option was to go with a throttle controller. VTC is the only one available for the 17 ZL1. So I bought one used off of a good friend of mine, installed it and calibrated, and it works wonders. At level 2 the difference was incredible. I think that is where it should be from the factory. Level 4 feels like it is everything I need. So I'll be keeping it on 4. So if you guys are looking to get rid of that lag then this is the way to go.

I'll keep you guys posted on any issues that may arise. I used this on my 10 SS a while back and it kept throwing codes. That may be due to the custom tune and all the bolt-ons I had...maybe they all weren't playing nice with the VTC. So I was skeptical to try it this time but what the hay. I'll let you guys know if anything pops up.

I purchased one of these for a 17 SS but never installed it. I sold the SS and now have a 17 ZL1 Vert. The model of VTC you purchased from your friend was for a SS? When I bought my VTC the ZL1 wasn't out yet and thus there wasn't a version of this throttle controller available for the ZL1. I'm guessing this VTC will work for any Gen 6 Camaro because they all share the same throttle controller from the factory??

Yes it should work fine. My friend has a 16 SS. I called Vitesse and asked them if it would work and they confirmed it would. And then I tried it and it did work. You should have no problem with it.

Oh, and set at 2 it made the whine more pronounced. It whined even more when I dialed it up to 4. From how 2 and 4 feels I don't think there is any need to go higher. So I plan to leave it at that. When I go to the track tho I'll probably turn it down or completely off so I won't spin or have traction issues. I think it is more of a fun mod for DDing. Soo much more fun now, lol!!

Maybe a stupid question but do these things put extra strain on the car that could be damaging?

It just multiplies how quickly the throttle is applied.

Not that I could see. No strain at all. It just increases the throttle blade opening speed. Tuners can do it thru the ECU. But this does it without a tune.
