Roto Fab vs Cold Air Inductions

wow I did a google search and used the sites search and there is not one for these intakes. Whats the real difference? I have read the roto fab dry makes more power but how much?

Full 1LE suspension, with BMR adjustable sway bars and links, GM aluminum cradle bushings, Hurst shifter with lighter reverse spring, TWM shifter knob, Tick level 1 transmission. I should have bought a ZL1

ok from spending 2 hour reading i found
the dry filter may not filter as good as the oiled
you only get 2 more hp out of the dry
the difference between the intakes is 2-4 hp
So conclusion on a street car. price and looks is the only difference.

Answer, at least on the Rotofab, the dry filter made a couple more HP.

Neither CAI will show any performance gain on a stock car that you can feel or measure at the track.

Still I like my Rotofab and would buy another. The CAI CAI is also a quality part or the GM version if you like the idea of a rebranded Chevy part

On the CA6 SS Camaro a CAI is eye candy. Plus you can get rid of the horrible sound tube.

I've had both over the years. Neither have helped performance on my otherwise stock 5th gens or 04 GTO. They did help with throttle response and sound. On my 6th gen, I'm not sure what or if the CAI did for performance with my mods since I was street tuned for the ported stuff and E85.

Unless your doing major performance mods, the CAI is a waste of a money. Someone on here did some dyno tests and the K&N drop in air filter showed a 5hp gain! Before I put my Whipple supercharger on, I had a green air filter drop in. Once I installed the Whipple, I installed the Roto-Fab.

CAI and Rotofab are quality products. In my honest opinion, I can tell it accelerates slightly faster on the top end after 4k.. slightly better throttle response as well. So is $400 worth 10-13 WHP? Maybe, maybe not.. just don't expect more than that tho.

Here's a standalone test on the CAI on the tracks

That will be a nice power bump. You ever come to Rochester for any cruise nights?

Too many people are after the old days of CAI kits where you got big power gains like on the 4th gen F-body with the lid change. You just wont see that anymore on these cars. Sometimes it is the sum of all of the parts that paints the better picture.

Roto-fab CAI
Pray ported IM/TB
Headers
secondary cat delete
custom tune

Those mods should put you near 450rwhp and make for a fun car until the bigger mod bug bites you,

Had both, sold the Rotofab after going back and fourth. As for gains and sound Rotofab on stock LT1 Camaro i felt no physical gains and no intake sound much like the stock intake system. Cold Air Inductions i have great sound from and better lower end gear response that i can feel IMO...

No! OP there's no discernible difference. Oiled filters are another headache unless you enjoy wrenching. I have the RF but think - so effing what. No noticeable gains. Stock IS a CAI. This is just a filter element and tube change, nothing else. There is no modification to the intake to introduce colder air. Having said that I have no regrets.
