Spotted a ZL1-1LE at Indy this weekend
Went to IMS this weekend to watch a friend do some vintage racing. They also had Trans Am racing going on. The guy that had this car was racing TA and worked for GM.

I went to my Chevy dealer a couple of weeks ago and jokingly asked when I could order my ZL1 1LE. Their answer? "Four Years."
"!" They are getting three or four a year and have a list of more than a dozen people who want one already. I was honestly thinking of one but I guess I won't be getting one now with that kind of demand. To be honest, a $75K car is stretching my financial limit but I think this one would be worth it. My Chevy dealer isn't getting their first ZL1 1LE until around August, I guess they are out now or is it just if you are connected to Chevy? |

I'm hoping GM does what they usually do, and make as many as they can sell. As a friend of mine always says. "limited edition, limited to as many as we can sell"

I am really glad to hear they are in such high demand. It should be a track monster. I am holding out for a Z28 - lighter and more focused without all the luxury stuff that adds weight. Hopefully it will happen in a year or two and I can upgrade.

That car in black is about as good as it gets. Man that is just awesome looking.

I try to figure out how much would a proper Z/28 weigh starting with the ZL1 1LE, ZL1 with stick is 3,883 pounds. Take 60 pounds away for the 1Le version of this car then you get 3,823 pounds, take roughly 40 pounds off for ceramic brakes and you get 3,783 pounds. I believe that the LT4 is roughly 50 pounds heavier then the LT1 so if you are going N/A remove that 50 pounds which brings us to 3,733 pounds. Then do the stripping part to come to a final mass for the car I would think is in the 3,600 pound range.

I'm with you too. As tempting as a ZL1 and ZL1 1LE (still too many numbers and letters there!) may be as a 6th gen car, I think I'll wait for a potential Z/28 variant. Then when the price exceeds $75K again, I may regret the wait. Still debating. The painful part is the 10% sales tax LA charges buyers for new vehicles plus the registration fees and subsequent renewals are based on the original purchase price of the car - not the depreciated value. This just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
