1LE - track tires on OEM rims?
Want to order another set as I have a bunch of track days booked now. So:
I know stock shoes are good! I hear Re71R (in 295 square) are better. Anyone tried Cup 2s in 295 square? Comments welcome based on actual usage (track and some street). NB thought about TrofeoRs but too much $ and seems not enuf life... Thank you! |

Well apart from the 3 listed above (all "competition" rated tires, albeit RE71R is a "sleeper" here) - not really. Also, I won't run 305 on a 10 rim.
My specific question is: any experience running 295 square in Cup2s? |

I'm strapping on a set of 295F and 305R in a couple days. I'll have an AutoX the following weekend so I could do a write-up.

How about wait until you do your first track day before deciding on anything? Otherwise we have no idea if you like the Supercar3's, if you don't even notice the setup is staggered, etc.
Give yourself at least one real data point. Your posts read like you're looking for confirmation bias to have us tell you a square 295 Cup 2 setup is "perfect".

True that!!! I'm still pretty green when it comes to Auto X and I managed to come within 3 tenths of a GT350R that was running 305 square RE71r's at our last event. Idk if that means I'm a better driver than I think or if it's more the car haha (but my guess is the car) Totally stock with track alignment.

Fellas, I fully agree that ideally I'd run a day or two to get a data point. But I don't live in USA and availability up here is a wee bit different I am afraid. For example, can't find a dealer that can get me stocker shoes! Am I looking for "confirmation"? You bet! If somebody has tried a square Cup2 set up and loved it and it lasted...well...then I'd proly go for it based on this info. Just like going with square RE71R seems a no brainer based on feedback posted here. My issue is that I am booked up for 15 days and a few 3 day events and won't have much time between them. So I do need a spare set like NOW assuming stockers may not last me for more than 5 days plus to/from and some DD. Makes sense now?

You seriously can't get the stock tires? I'm calling B.S. on that one. If Tire Rack has them in-stock, that means they're easily available. Put in an order for a set of Supercar3's and a set of square 295 Cup2's and be done with it.
If you have 15 days booked, you're going to need more than tires for spares. Pads & rotors for starters.

Of course I could order them online, pay 35% fx and get it up the bum for customs admin charges from that delivery co that insists on wearing shorts even in winter. Been there done it got the Tshirt. It be different if I lived close to the border. Finally - yes indeed: other consumables will be needed too. But my question dealt specifically with tires as they are the most important and costly component for me. Cheers!

So, it sounds like your question is multi-faceted. What tires can you easily order online and get in Canada with no customs fees that also will work as a track day tire?
