Yeah, this happens to me at times. When I push down on the edge and hit the button it always opens. I recently adjusted the rubber bump stops on either side of the trunk opening by turning all the way left. It seems to have done the trick. You may have to play with them to get the right setting for yours.

Ok thank you I'll try that it was embarrassing showing a friend the car and the trunk wouldn't open

To be clear on the bump stops. I said turn left. What I mean is I turned them all the way down, but again you may need to play with the adjustments.

Do you have a spoiler? I put a the ZL1 on my car with the original supports and the trunk wouldn't open sometimes...luckily I bought the correct ones at the same time I was just trying to see the difference at the time.

Bigg Franco
The Striker is the piece that the Latch of the hood latches onto when it closes.
So if you are looking in your trunk it is in the middle of the tail lights. On the inside of the trunk. it looks like a squarish hook or a chain link.
It's a simple piece, but it needs to be tight and secure. it's something you can try first before taking the car to the dealer.
here is a link to what it looks like.
