Placement of the oil feed is plain stupid

45 degree angle several inches below all surrounding crap is a feat of engineering. Bravo GM. Great job! Now I have to use a funnel to top off an engine that slightly burns oil. Study competitors and learn. Wtf?

I'm confused. You're upset because adding oil requires a funnel?

Wouldn't it be better to complain about oil consumption

I'm used to that. At least let one top things off without having to find a filter and the cleanup that entails. Sorry if it sounds petty but it's not necessary to require a filter to top off engine oil- except here. And other places in not aware of.

Just topped off the oil. Tried to fashion up a funnel since this hasn't been a requirement in almost 2 decades for me across multiple manufacturers. What a frigging mess. This is classic. Finally America builds a car worthy of a damn yet they can't pay attention to details like their competition.

I know this appears as bitching to some. I'll take the flames but today's engines likely need top offs due to many factors - not the least of which the oil change intervals. Sorry to not be a total fanboy, but GM sucks in many ways. It's the details that matter and they still have yet to figure this out.

Maybe you can do a Kickstarter campaign and members of the C6 forum will chip in to get you a funnel?

On a serious note, did you follow the engine break-in procedure outlined in the manual? I did (after speaking personally to Al Oppenheiser who strongly advised it) and I have had zero issues with oil consumption. By that I mean my catch can barely has any oil in it, and my oil stays full up until my computer shows 5-10% oil life left and I do an oil change. I am using Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, but I cannot imagine this has an impact on consumption.

Is this for real, or maybe an experiment on human behavior.

huh, I just changed my oil a couple of weeks ago. Stuck a funnel into the valve cover and put oil in the car with no issue. What seems to be the problem Willis?

Yes I followed it. It has dropped slightly to the bottom of the stick. It probably didn't need any but I added a little.

I guess I'll go get a damn funnel.
