MSD atomic airforce intake

Has anyone tried the MSD atomic airforce intake? Curious to see if the HP gains are as high as advertised.

Thanks in advance for the feedback

Do not get it unless you plan on porting it. Honestly just get the stock intake ported.

The MSD has proven to do pretty well, but really only with the M6's gearing. A ported stocker is better for an a8. I would say get it, but get it ported. You'll see some nice top end gains.

Some reading material if you are really interested. Ported MSD becomes worth it at some point depending on your final goals. The last link with my ported heads and stock cam show it up 40rw at 6,300 which is legit. With less gears to chose from with the M6 tq becomes a premium. The stock MSD takes a huge hit down low. Ported it comes a little closer. I personally feel a MSD is worse for a M6 car than an A8 but Ian and I have already discussed this in the past. If the shift recovery is above 5K with your M6 then I suggest the ported MSD. The only other company I know that has done the back to back testing like I have is GPI. IIRC their numbers were dead on nuts with mine as far as gains and losses are concerned between stock, ported stock, MSD, and ported MSD.

Good info about M6 vs A8! I never thought about that. I have M6 and was going with your ported OEM anyway

PRAY hit it. The M6 needs to be much more concerned about the midrange than the A8. If you are not running H/C on a M6 I would go ported stock. For the A8 with some extended shift points I would go ported MSD if maximum 1/4 mile performance is your goal.

PRAY can port both. I still need to get my MSD to him

Is a tune required when porting the stock intake?

No. But to get the most out of any mod that adjusts the amount of air your car ingests or expels, it is always advantageous to have a tune instead of not.

Yeah, I'm more trying to figure out mods that a dealership wouldnt have to necessarily know about. Lol. Tune would be a giveaway.
