The SUPER PRAY ported Intake manifold & throttle body

Big thanks to Brett @ PRAY PERFORMANCE. Let me just reiterate that physically holding PRAYS's ported IM & TB you can see the difference and feel and see the difference. Rubbing your fingers along say hehe machined areas side by side oem you feel the difference and mm's saved on space for more & smoother air flow from the front & rear of TB plus the opening and plenums of the TB itself. Can't deny dyno graphs picking up almost 20whp. Combined with this the possibilities for more powa!

On to my addition(s), this idea spawned from owning my 2014 boss 302 where on our forums we found big gains from a well placed heat shield on the intake manifold.

Check out the article here: http://www.stangtv.com/project-cars/...ld-heatshield/

So I went with the LS1 precut IM heat shield guessing the v8 should be close enough, actually it fit perfectly. This is one of the mods & additions that at WORST it can do no harm. Only positivite gains in traffic on track etc.

Wish I got more pictures but for for those interested.
So for 60$ with only gains to be found worst case scenario and up to 5 10whp picked up that's another steal to not void a warranty.

Let me know any thoughts & feedback

I've been running a heat shield since December. No issues at all. Looks like a fun project, and I wish you the best.

so does the stock piece under the intake serve no purpose besides sound insulation?

I noticed its been removed....

I think the foam under the oem IM does more of soaking the heat up NOT reflecting it. And from what I could tell it seemed the foam under there served as a spacer for the IM

Just m opinion but obviously the oem stuff does great as these cars dyno strong and often higher than 455 crank advertised .. even making more whp than the c7 stingray ... But the hestshield.com heatshield is proven to save / free up power by itself on many other power plants. Worth a shot to me

I may do this.

Do you think the factory piece would need to be removed to install/make room for the heat shield ?

No actually i went back and readded the fit foam underneath the IM the heatshield makes it a bit of a tight fit on top of the foam piece......but it's foam so no issues what so ever.
- just be mindful reinstalling with the pieces together be sure to seat the gaskets correctly on each of the cylinders

The foam is sound insulation to reduce the clicking from the HPFP.

I'd love to see a before and after dyno of this. It seems it would help you not to lose HP/TQ from heat soak rather than to actually gain. Still a great addition if it works it's magic on the LT1

Our tuner lives by this mod and a few others. He's been doing this to all the LT/LS cars for years. The only thing I would want to know is does the silver make total contact with the intake and top of the engine? If it does, the silvered surfaces are unnecessary since they are only radiant barriers and have nothing to do with full on conductive heat.
