Phone Mount Solution
Hey guys first post on the forums just got my 2016 2SS 6M, really loving it but damn where do we put our phones.
Figured out a pretty decent option I think, I didnt want anything obstructing the windshield that thing is small enough already lol, wire for car play reaches perfectly and out of the way of the shifter, gave it a custom touch to match the car also, lemme know what you think! |

it's nice, i have a cup holder phone mount that raises up about a foot, I like to use Waze with my phone, might not be able to see it well without moving my head while driving. What is this product that you have purchased?

Isn't it bad for the phone battery ? I always had issues when I used magnetic mounts

I've never heard of it affecting the battery, I know it used to be bad when phones used hard drives to store info but I don't think any phones use them anymore, all smart phones are solid state now.
Here's the mount: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 |

The mount needs to do wireless charging for it to work properly. Wireless charging is really an issue right now with iPhone but it is truly awesome for Android, you can just attach the phone on the mount and charge at the same time, no wire plug in required.
I am using THIS and it works well. There is a mount you can stick/attach next to the display and so far it is holding.

I played around with mounting in that spot that the OP used, but using 3M Command strips, they kept coming loose. Ultimately, I want to look at something that actually bolts behind the display and comes out from the side for a mount-point.
Settled on this until I get to that point. Amazon, suction-mount on a goose-neck with 3D printed holster for my wireless charger and phone. |

I've always been a fan of Proclipusa's mounts. They are vehicle specific mounts with a separate device attachment. This is nice if you upgrade or switch models you can get the device attachment instead of buying the entire assembly.

your phone doesn't need to be anywhere visible to you as a driver with Android auto ...or carplay if you're unfortunate enough to use an iphone.
Plug it in, throw it behind you in that area behind the center compartment and drive away. |
