HP tuners over write SCT Tuner?? (question)

I posted this over in the Tuning section, but appears that its not getting very much hits. After I thought about it, It may fit here better. can you guys give me your feedback?

I made an appointment to a local speed shop who has been very reputable. (I have done exhaustive research) That said, my magnuson tune from what we all understand is very conservative and tuned for 91 octane. Well I use 93 Shell and I also installed a Roto-fab intake as well. So what the tuner was saying, is that the SCT tune will be completely wiped away and he will tune accordingly. I was Leary on installing my supercharger on my 2SS with only 2200 miles, let alone having someone tune it to be optimized.. Should I have anything to worry about here? I'm not looking for 600HP I just want it to be reliable with what I have with out any type of worry. I also want my A/F to be good. I believe currently it does run a bit rich due to the SCT tune.

It is very ill-advised to ever overwrite a tune from one software to another.

Its best to return the car to 100% stock, and start over fresh.

These are the steps you should follow:

1. Read the car with HP tuners - save this as your "Supercharged File".
2. Flash the car back to stock with the SCT - this releases the VIN from the SCT handheld and will let you use the handheld on a different car if you would like in the future.
3. Flash the car with HP tuners and your "Supercharged File".
4. Tune away with HP Tuners.

Hope this helps!

I'm sure glad I asked! Thanks guys. Will do this.

Do you see me gaining very much if I end up going this route? Keep in mind that my SCT tune is only for the conservative 91 octane Maggie... I have added a roto fab and will be tuned for 93. approximation, what are you assumptions? is it worth the new tune for this?

You can obtain the exact same results with either software, the tuner makes the tune, the software is a doorway into the tuning.

You should gain about 20 RWHP moving from 91 to 93 with tuning.

Ted.

Thanks Ted, yeah I got that response over in the other thread, I ended up posting here as no one posted over there with lack of interest. I believe you posted here after the fact.
As always, thanks for your input to this community, all of you. it does make a difference.
