New Camaro A8 Question

Does the new Auto have a rev limiter at idle? I had a auto 2013 Camaro a few years ago and it wouldn't let you rev past 4K or something like that. Thank you.

I have the manual but yes it limits earlier in neutral. I think its either 5k or 5500.

its around 4k in either Park or neutral. I rev it all the time during car meets.

I'm wondering what the point of this limiter is? I'm assuming is it will give the throttle angle enough of a buffer if someone did a neutral to drive drop rather than a neutral to drive drop at redline? Or maybe the 8L90 valve body is plumbed electronic to engage the drive circuit? I would think it would be mechanical from the shifter to engage drive for a limp mode?

Obviously revving your engine at redline in neutral has no good purpose haha, but yes there is a limiter in park and neutral at 4,400rpms or around there I think.

It's mainly to protect the car. Part of it is somewhat like you said to provide some protection to the trans/driveline. It's also to protect the engine itself. High RPMs without load isn't necessarily a good thing, and in certain circumstances has the potential to cause damage.
