Vibration with Borla Atak axle-back (non NPP)

So my new Borla Atak doesn't have drone but I'm noticing that it does vibrate when in 4 cylinder mode. Do you think this is caused by the AFM valve? If so, can I get rid of AFM with just a tune?

You may have a loose clamp or hanger from the install. If your AFM valves were fine before, they should be fine now, the axleback doesn't touch the AFM at all.

I don't believe there is a way to remove the AFM with a tune, you'd need to get the range disabler that plugs into your OBDII, unfortunately you have to have it plugged in all the time.

I have the MRBP but my exhaust guy had to bend the hangars a bit because it rattled. Just take it back and have them do that

Just a guess here but if in 4 cylinder mode you're lower rpm, cruising speed. Never understood this AFM, could there be some level of bogging the engine that is more noticeable with this exhaust? ITOH perhaps everything is perfectly natural from artificially killing 1/2 the pistons. Surely there's no long term or short term impact from doing that.

Its a resonance caused by the 4 cyl mode. You can thank the EPA and their CAFE fuel mileage rquirements.

US 6sp manual drivers don't have to worry about this since the AFM is not active on the manuals although the hardware is there.

Manuals have that nasty skip shift feature though where the shifter forces you into 4th instead of 2nd on a light acceleration.

I don't mind the AFM, the mpg savings means lower fuel taxes which means cheaper car for us. If you want the car to sound mean on the auto, all you have to do is flip the shifter over and use to paddles to wind out each gear or downshift, that way the car never has a chance to go to 4 banger mode.
