So, I was checking some out at our Best Buy. They have what looks to be a great deal on Kickers. Their KS series are $75 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/kicker-k...?skuId=6432002

I'm not planning on a amp soon, but I realize to fully experience the best sound from most all "good" speakers, I will end up getting one. We also have a custom stereo shop nearby that I may go check out Saturday just to see what they have.

Those speakers you are looking at are 4 ohm impedance. No problem if you add an amp. But if you are planning to postpone an amp, you should check if the non-bose 6x9's are 2 or 4 ohm impedance. I can't remember, but it is probably posted here somewhere. The bose 6x9's are 2 ohm.
And I don't think you will get much difference in sound quality with a speaker swap alone.

+1 on lowering your expectations when replacing just the speakers. You really need to introduce an amp if you want discernible quality.
