In Oregon, the factory tires are bad on wet roads, I switched to MPSS and it handles a lot better in the rain/wet roads (night and day difference really!). EDIT: We have a lot of standing water here, that is really the only problem I saw in the rain. If you don't have any, you will be fine, like mentioned below and drive carefully.

I am going to switch to Pirelli Winter SottoZero 3 at the end of summer, mainly due to the cold weather. The MPSS are really bad at and under 40 degress, you really have to be really careful and it's make driving the car really stressful. The tires become hockey pucks and slide around a lot more, some places sell them as all seasons, but that's not true.

The tread life on the MPSS are 10k-15k depending on your driving habits. We have to split the tread life in half due to the staggered wheel setup. I am hoping the Pirelli's well have a better life span, but will have to wait and see.

In the 7 weeks that I've had mine; on the rare occasion that I get caught driving home in the rain (due to bad forecast) I'm fine driving the ZL1 in the rain. I just adjust my driving to the road conditions.

I daily drive, but only had it about ten days. As luck would have it, it started raining when I left the dealership with it. I drove carefully, but it had no problem on the wet highway.

It was raining all day on the day I picked mine up. I even made a video, lol!! But during the test drive it hugged the road as if they were in love, lol!! On the ride home it stuck to the road like crazy. It had stopped raining a little at that point. But I did about 70-80 the whole way home and was in Track mode and it never once got loose. My 2010 SS even with new tires on it did not stick to the road in the rain as good as this thing did.

It's perfectly fine in the rain. Just stay out of the go pedal. Cold weather is where it gets sketchy

Anyone daily drive their ZL1?

Anyone daily drive their ZL1? I daily drive a mustang GT, and have a HC as garage queen. On the fence with this idea: selling both the GT and the HC and getting a ZL1 for both garage candy and daily driver. Kind of frustrating paying double car insurance and double registration. Decisions decisions....

Cars are depreciating assets, except in "exceptionally" rare circumstances - so drive your ZL1 everyday you can and enjoy the time you own it. When all is said and done will you say when you sell it, I sure am glad I did not drive it so I got an extra $5k or will you say, I drove the $#!^ out of it everyday and loved every minute of it!

I say drive it as often as possible!

I am using mine as a daily driver and loving it. I bought this car to drive cuz it outperforms cars costing 3X the price.

Thats how I sold it to the wife....I will buy the Porsche Turbo S if you insist but its a lot more $, baby.

Ours is a third car, but we plan on driving it a bunch. It's a very drivable car if you stay out of the throttle. I drove it home in the rain and it was fine.

Same thread = same answers. Yes daily drive it.

I'm amazed that some buy it to only look at it most of its life. To each their own.

I daily drive mine. Absolutely loving this car it's so much fun. Regular rain isn't a problem at all but I got caught in a freaky downpour and traction was minimal. May consider better tires tires when the Eagles are done.

I daily drive my ZL1 and then some.

I was driving to Las Vegas a couple months ago during that last big rain storm. As I was driving in pitch black darkness a large lightning bolt discharged somewhere close by. For a tiny instant it lit the whole sky pure white and the terrain was white like a black and white photo that has been over exposed, with a thin pitch black road right in the middle snaking off into the distance before me. Totally amazing.

Anyway, the rain was coming down hard such that I had the wipers on full. The car handled perfectly fine, but it does hydroplane on even small amounts of standing water. While exciting and a little disconcerting, the car feels under control even while hydroplaning.

Long story short, in my experience, watch for standing water and modulate your speed accordingly and you'll be just fine in the rain.

Surprisingly controllable as long as your not trying to be heavy on the gas, I had bald tires and didn't have issues when it's rained(pretty good too).
