Does Lease Trader or Swap a Lease really work?

I have a 2016 2SS that I leased. I'm desperately trying to get my hands on a red hot ZL1. I'm sure I'd have to pay a high termination fee to get the 2SS turned in, so that may be out of the question. So my question is: does anyone here think paying the hundreds of dollars to swap a lease or Lease Trader is a good idea? I can't seem to figure out any other way. Tried Craigslist.

Yes, it works. Put my '16 Z71 on there. Got a lease transfer done in about 90 days. Went fairly smoothly. If the lease is with GM, the new owner HAS to live in your State. Just a heads up. I threw in $2250 in incentives as well. You might have to throw in a few grand. The buyer got a steal honestly. My payment was $595. With the $2250 I gave him, it went down to $530. Plus, he didn't put anything down. I lost the $4k I put down as well so.

If you end up finding a ZL1 that you want before you find a way out of your lease, you could always call them up and mention it to them. From what I understand the fees that are levied during/after the lease process is up to the dealer, and since you'll be going in to another GM I have a feeling they may be a little more lenient. This is all a maybe though. I've heard it a couple times but no first hand experience myself. All you have to lose is a phone call.

I used swapalease to move my M3. I threw in a few grand after getting little to no interest. To turn in to the dealer would have cost me $12k so the few grand I threw in was a win/win. The buyer paid for the qualification fee of $500 through BMW and paid for the shipping from San Diego to Washington State. Yes, it does work but you have to be willing to meet in the middle.

To this point, OP, you should at least call the GM dealer that has the car you want to see what you're really facing from a penalty perspective if anything. That way you know what to ask for or include as an incentive like donaldp did.

The penalty is steep. I forgot what mine was on the Silverado, but it wasn't even close to being worth it. And I also was willing to buy my 2nd Vette. They didn't care. So, I put it on SwapALease.
