Zl1addons rear rock guards

I got my Zl1addons rock guards and installed them this weekend. The fronts were easy, I think I got those on perfect. However the rears were much more tricky. I feel as though the top screw needed a long spacer as well as its trying to suck the top corner in around the wheel well lip. Whereas the front is flush I feel like this isn't correct. I am not at home so I'll post a picture when I can.

Are others experiencing similar or did I do something wrong?

Thanks!

I agree, but like the short spacer on top because it curves the guard in a little and looks better. I'd prefer one more short spacer for the bottom so it sits flush.

You are not alone!

Is anyone having problems with these rear rock guards flapping at highway speeds? I keep hearing them flapping and hitting the car making an annoying ticking sound. Not sure if it's the top section or the bottom.

Sounds like the bolts are not tightened? If it is flapping it is not installed properly.

I put a thin strip of color matched vinyl on the inner lip. I felt like over time the plastic could rub the paint if debris gets caught in between

No sledge it's more like the plastic is so thin it's flapping in the breeze.

Do not use the two long spacers on the bottom, use the other two spacers that were shorter that were included with the kit. There are four spacers that are equal length, two on the top for each, then there are two long ones and two that are shorter, use the shorter two on the bottom holes, one for each side. The longer ones are for someone with a ZL1 or that needs the extra gap for body molding that sticks out past the fender lip. If you do this, you will have no gaps on an SS or a 1le. I put mine on yesterday and made some videos, I just haven't had a chance to post them up yet.

Also, you can do the install easily without taking the rear wheels off, you just need a T15 torx bit, a small 1/4 inch wrench and an offset Phillips head screw driver. You can take the old screws out and install the rear rock guards in less time than it will take you to jack up the rear, use jack stands and remove the wheels.

My driver front came off today after maybe a month. The adhesive on the guard gave way. Going to look for double sided tape to try to fix it.

To add, which was odd to me because there was no issue with adhering to the wheel liner on the car, but the tape on the guard as shipped came off.

That definitely shouldn't happen, the 3m VHB tape is very strong stuff, it's used in automotive applications all the time, as well as the adhesive used on Go Pro camera mounts. I would just buy some more and reapply the rock guard.
