Cherry blossoms ruined my clear coat?

I live in the DC area and we have cherry blossoms all over the place. They only bloom in spring and are pretty short lived. My next door neighbor has a tree in their front yard and this morning I cleaned my car and was truly sickened by the sight of cherry blossoms PRINTED onto my clear coat after washing and drying my car. They are all over the car because we just had a big storm that blew the petals all over the place. I had no idea that they could be corrosive to paint and I am pretty pissed off at the way it looks. I of course have a black car so every little imperfection shows. I am already annoyed at the amount of fine scratches on the car after owning it for only 5-6 months. Is my only option wet sanding?

Try an orbital and meguires ultimate compound first, wet sanding is an extreme step

Put a coating on it long term ....

Whoa whoa whoa! Wash and clay bar first. That will probably disappear them.

Thank you everyone for the quick responses. Yeah wet sanding is an extreme step (NOOB!) I will try and hit it will the clay bar and then move on to trying to polish. I don't have an orbital polisher but I think I need to buy one. I had no idea that those little flowers would etch themselves into my paint.

I ended up claying it and adding some blackfire polish and it got rid of most of the imprints. Some are still visible though. I'll keep working at it.
