Employer pricing family and friends?

What kind of savings should I expect on employer family and friends pricing - NOT supplier.

Go to gmfamilyfirst.com and you can build out the car and see pricing for employee discount

Should that stack with dealer discount? Dealer is telling me if they advertise $4,000 off as a dealer discount they can't stack it. So instead of $2,000 off in addition to $4,000, it would be like $4,500

It doesn't stack on dealer discount.....you get the employee price plus all available incentives at the time.....

The dealer discount is what they lowered it from MSRP..... employee discount price starts you out lower....

Gotcha, so hypothetically a red tag bonus tag it would stack with?

Last Fall after I ordered my car, the Dealer called me and advised me they were going to run a "Family and Friends Discount". I did not know anyone who worked at GM, but within 2-hours and a few phone calls, I was able to make two new "GM friends". In my opinion, the savings were substantial. Saved just over $5,000. This was a "gift" I never expected. I used it to purchase the 7-year bumper to bumper Warranty. I am VERY fortunate I have such a GREAT Dealership, and they will continue to get my business........

gmfamilyfirst is what I used, reduced my price by $4500, funny thing is I have never worked for GM, but I worked for a company (Hughes Aircraft Co.) that designed the heads up display GM uses, they wanted that technology to use in cars so GM bought Hughes, this was back in 1985.

I just ordered with a GMS number, the employeee vs supplier number. The discount was $2400 below invoice+ whatever incentives are available at delivery. This was about $1200 below what I was able to negotiate at another dealer without the number. Just hope there will be the $2500 in incentives end of May
when the car is due that there is now.

GM Employee Discount (GMS) is your best discount but you have to fall under the following to get it

Active GM employees, retirees, surviving spouses and divestitures are eligible to take advantage of the GM Employee Discount or sponsor these family members:
  • Spouse
  • Children
  • Stepchildren
  • Grandchildren
  • Stepgrandchildren
  • Grandparents (including in-law and step)
  • Parents
  • Stepparents
  • Siblings (including full, half and step)
  • Mother-/father-in-law
  • Sons-/daughters-in-law
  • Brothers-/sisters-in-law
  • Aunts
  • Uncles
  • Nieces
  • Nephews
Then you have GM Supplier Discount for Friends pricing

Which you just need a GM sponsor or work for/or memberships companies that have them such as Cosco

you sure about that??..the 20% bonus tags last fall were applicable on MSRP only. No other discount could be applied to the tagged car's MSRP.

You are right..... I was referring to a fixed $ amount off... not the percentage.... last month they had $ amount tags available..... I see its 16% off this month... it won't work......

In Canada you have to be immediate family of the employee (or retiree).

Have done multiple cars over 30 years through the program with my brother (employee).

In this case I ordered the 2017 2SS 50th. I was out the door less than the sticker price all in (with PDI, delivery, taxes, A/C tax, tire tax etc.).

At the time I ordered it there were no sales, rebates etc. Took delivery last August.

Some of the earlier posts imply that all you need is a number or a printout with a valid GM employee discount number?

Does this mean some dealers don't care and/or GM's checking of your blood or familial lineage is suspect anyway? I mean what do they do require marriage licenses and birth certificates?
