Pics of inside your ported IM?
Recently purchased a ported intake manifold off of here, and while I'm going to keep the Company name discrete until I see some of the other vendors intakes, mine that I received looks very unfinished and rough. Growing up around one of the areas greatest hand porting experts and seeing his finished work, my intake seams unfinished so to say. Before I'm asked why I didn't go to my friend...he deals with high-end prostock, x275, etc engine builds and didn't want to bother him with a measly stock plastic intake. Thanks for any help.

Can we see a pic of the inside of the runners? Does it look like it was finished with a carbide or a cartridge roll? The people that ported your IM are very competent. I would run it and see what you get for power. In the end, that is what matters.
I answered your PM with my opinion on port finish. From my testing and that of others a rough finish is preferred on the intake runner and combustion chamber for a plethora of reasons. You can't really polish a plastic runner but an extremely smooth runner or polished runner or TB for that matter will cause air to skip and not follow the contour of the runner. Fast air travels on a slower buffer of air that "sticks" to the walls of what ever it is trying to flow through. You also get a false cross section increase with texture. Think about a golf ball, you want some texture like that in runners. We aren't worried about fuel in this equation so you could get away with a smoother finish that may be more pleasing to the eye in a dry IM but there is really no need for it. http://hotrodenginetech.com/pipemax-...-head-porting/ Read down about 3/4 of the way. They talk about texturing and it's benefits.

No worries. I don't cartridge roll anything but my TB's any more. People would flip out if their TB didn't at least look a little "polished". I begrudgingly take the TB's to 125 grit and then course buffer pad over that. It gives me my minimum allowable texture with a nice finish. All of my heads and IM's are gone over with a fine carbide after my main shaping is finished. But that is how they stay.

Are you talking about one of those Mamo coke can pics? No, I don't. Never really even considered it. I take what is needed from where it is needed from each manifold. They are all different so the amount will be different. I only shoot for the proper cross section and shape.

I guess I could do that at some point. I just vacuum the stuff out as I clear it. Some of these manifolds are just about the right size and some are thick as crap. All of them need short turn widening and reshaping. I have noticed that the ones I have been getting lately have better shaped runners and are bigger. But the tops are all shifted to the right pretty bad to the TB opening. I have to do a lot of work in there. I had one last night that took forever it was so undersized. It was of an early 16'.

I have the VMAX ported TB. I bought it a while back before you started marketing yours (or I would have gone through you as well). I hope I am not leaving anything on the table with the Vmax in comparison to yours.
