Cats or no cats
I ordered catless kooks 1 7/8 LT headers months ago and still haven't got them. I was told that I could continue waiting or that he could ship me the catted version that he had on hand. My question is that with an X pipe connecting to the stock NPP exhaust and no cats will it be too raspy? Should I continue waiting or go with the catted version and add the x pipe still?

I'm catless, but as soon as the tune is finished I'll put cats in. It is raspy at low engine RPM and high gear say 6th gear at 68 MPH, 4th gear below 40 MPH, if you down shift no issues really. I'd rather run cats for environmental issues and it is the law; might not have local enforcement but I do know people that visit CA and get their car impounded....

Put cats on, really its required by the law and the loss in hp is negligible.

This ^^. Be a responsible member of this world and get cats. There is more rasp without them and since they flow so well you are not gaining anything noticable by going without them.

You're also not the only one having to deal with the smell of fuel due to going catless. You're driving on public roads and drivers around you have to put up with that horrible smell just for you to gain what 5-10 HP?
Go with cats for legality, environmental, and being a considerate person on public roads so we don't have to put up with fuel fumes coming out of your car. |

Cats aren't going to limit the power to any appreciable degree.

All of the dyno sessions testing cats that I have seen you gain a couple hp up top but lose tq in the mid range which is more important for a street car. I live in Florida where it does not get tested. I have an uncle that cuts every cat out of his exhaust because of old school thinking. No reason to cut them out any more. Might as well take the green and law abiding route for this reason.
