Flat Tires on 1/LE

In addition to the can of Goop that plugs the tire on a temporary basis, is there an air compressor in the 1/LE trunk?

Yes. Where a spare tire would be is the tire kit. Inside is the temporary sealant and a small compressor for reinflating the tire.

Can the air compressor be used to keep healthy tires properly inflated with air at the recommended tire pressure?

Yes. Although, it takes a while to inflate. Also, I would use a separate, external gauge.

Just a question. Can we buy a spare and jack to replace the fix-a-flat and compressor?

It seems like it might provide peace of mind.

I bought one from performancespare.com for my 5th Gen. It comes with a large wheel spacer so that the donut spare will fit with the large brake calipers. It is my understanding that there isn't even a tire well in the trunk for the spare tire to fit in with the 6th Gen so it would just have to take up trunk space? I almost never have it in the car anyways because of the extra weight for autocross but I would put it in if I ever had to drive a long distance.

There really appears to be no good alternative anymore, the fix a flat stuff will get all over the inside of your wheel rim and could affect balance, a spare will take up already limited trunk space and run-flat tires are extra expensive. Since fewer and fewer people these days even really know how to change tires anymore they just assume everyone is going to call for a tow truck.

Carry a full size spare in the back seat.

Have you seen A) how huge the tires are, and B) the rear seat? You'd have to unbolt a front seat just to get the tire through the door aperture.

It's best just to carry the stock fix-a-flat kit and add a tire plug kit.

Nope, three tires will fit in the backseat and one in the trunk. I've done it a few times in my 5th gen and once in my 6th gen.

I used the air compressor when I had a slow leak in a rear tire.. worked great and the included gauge was accurate.

Did not use the fixaflat as I heard that makes the tire hard to repair.
