Driving Shoes for Wide Feet
I am looking for some driving shoes for wide feet. Many years ago, I had some Simpson boots that I used for both Karting and track that were comfortable, but they are long gone. Any recommendations?

Unless you're looking for an SFI fire-rated race boot, it's whatever you're confident driving in. For me, it's whatever has a thin and communicative sole and I've familiar with the sole shape for heel-n-toeing.
Senna has his famous NSX @ Suzuka video where he's crushing fast laps in deck shoes.

I am just not sure which companies are making shoes for wider feet. You often hear them say go 1 size up if your feet are wide, but I don't trust that metric. Better to get recommendations from those who have found something that works. |

I have kinda large feet and what I did was go to a race shop that carries driving gear in stock. Ended up finding some OMP Sport driving shoes (SFI 3.3/5) that fit well enough for racing. They definitely are made for driving and feel kind of funny walking around the pits, when compared to sneakers for example. I'm not saying these shoes will fit you, what I'm suggesting is, find a way to try some on, either in person at a shop, or an understanding with a mail order place that you can return the ones that do not fit.

Wide shoes for Heel and Toeing
Poor man's Piloti: New Balance Model 409, comes in up to 4E width, about $50 at Pennys. NOT fire resistant, but better than flip flops...
Good luck. Check it out. Worked for me. |

If you don't mind paying more and then treating it like a dog... I am a U.S.A 13W and use Alpinestar T1-Z 13. When I get them, I place them in a 5 gallon bucket of warm to hot water with a couple tablespoons of mineral oil. After soaking for an hour I put them on and wear them around the house. Voila. 13 WIDE. I am not recommending this if you require fire resistance as I don't know the impact this method has on that. But for fit, it works for me.

I wear a 12 and I brought out my black Chuck Taylor All Stars! That seemed to do the trick.

I have a pair of new balance gym sneakers, light weight, flat soles, but not nearly was good as what I recall from that old pair of Simpson boots. I need to find a shop in DFW area that carries different brands and see what fits me and will be on lookout for OMP Sports that Wnta1ss mentioned. Thanks everyone!
