Borla X pipe W/ Mid-pipe question
I currently have a 2017 camaro SS. The only thing I've done to my car is cut off my secondary cats... I'm looking at the product listed below and wanted to hear some thoughts on how it would affect my car? *sound, torque, hp*. Right now I'm noticing a loss in torque after cutting my rear cats... But the guy who did it put larger diameter pipes to replace the rear cat section. I think that might be the culprit..... Share your thoughts guys! would love to hear from everyone

If you already have your secondary cats removed, it's not going to sound or feel any different with that borla pipe. That borla pipe is pretty much a mid section that deletes the secondary cats (which you already have done), and allows you to attach borla axle-back systems to it.
Now, if you got the resonated X pipe that borla offers, AND a borla axleback, you would definitely have improved sound and a little bit of performance. Borla resonated X pipe - part #60608 As for exhaust options you could do Borla ATAK or Borla S-Type. On another note, I'm shocked you found a shop in California that would remove your secondary cats. |

The Borla X pipe will sound different than the stock stamped X pipe. It's not a massive difference but it will be different. The Borla is a true X pipe while the stock X is a stamped piece that causes collision. But I don't think its worth getting the Borla midpipes unless you do the axle back too.

I have the 60610 mid pipes which are very similar (just without the cat delete and I have AFM valves) and have that paired with my Borla S Type and I love the sound. No loss of low end power because it's a uniform 2.75" system. It's got the right quality sound, loud on WOT, and quiet when just cruising, especially with NPP closed. Borla is great, one of the very few systems with no drone for our car.
This is what mine sounds like, having a secondary cat delete will be slightly louder and may have what people describe as a more raspy tone, but no drone none the less. |
