2017 1SS 1LE beats 2014 Z28 at the track
2017 1SS 1LE is an amazing bargain.

This is kind of old news, the SS 1LE put down a faster lap time at Leguna Seca then did the 5th generation Z/28 Camaro. However it must be pointed out that this isn't a same day test as conditions can/will impact lap times.
At VIR the Z/28 ran a 2:50.90 while the 2017 SS 1LE ran a 2:54.80 and for science the ATS V coupe ran a 2:59.20. |

Even though it wasn't the same day, the 17 is a much better ride then the Z28. Weight, power to weight. Its just a wicked Gen6 for the money.

Also, C&D editors are not pro/race driver who can put very consistent lap times like Randy Pobst and who knows who drove that Z28 in what condition and who drove the new 1LE. Laguna Seca is not the only track that the Gen 5 Z28 gets beaten by the 2017 1LE also: See below link for the Big Willow lap times. Take a look at the #17 and 18. It says the 1LE driver is unknown but it's Randy Pobst, it's been discussed on MT: http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/willow-springs

My question is yes the 1LE posted a single similar lap time but what happens after lap 1 to the 1LE, during MotorTrends review he began to notice brake fade. That Z28 will run lap after lap after lap pulling away each lap.
In regards to this for the past week I seriously considered purchasing a local 2015 Z28 with 2800 miles on it. Got the price down to 44,800 but just can't seem to pull the trigger. The thought of a monthly toy payment keeps getting in my way.

This is true, I test drove a Z/28, and while I like a stiff riding car, it was just too much...defiantly not street friendly if you ask me. With the SS 1LE, just swap the MRC setting to Sport or Tour and the ride is great...almost amazingly so considering the track capabilities.

I'm sure the Z/28 is more fun around the track though.
