2017 ZL1 Steering Issue

I've had my car for about a month now with only 350 miles on the odometer and every once in awhile the steering seems to act like the power steering pump quits for a split second then return to normal. This only happens at low speed and seems to only happen turning left. I read a thread awhile back that said something about GM was aware and was working on a software fix for the issue. Does anyone have any new information on the subject?

It's worth being real careful to pay attention...is it a power steering issue? Or the big tires tracking on bumps in the road?

I understand the big tire thing and don't believe that is the issue. I owned a 08 dodge viper that had wide front tires and never felt anything like this, however the steering box on this car is far more complex so it's possible the tighter gearbox may be amplifying the feeling. I normally drive in sport mode maybe
I'll try touring and see if their is a difference.

Don't be hesitant to take it in for the dealer service guys to look at, either. If it is a steering gremlin, get it documented - it'll help you, Camaro Team, and the rest of us!

I bet it's the same neg ground issue the 5th Gen's have....

As I understand it, there is no pump at all in the rack, it is a high torque direct drive electric motor.

Well that may be the case, however there are so many reports of different situations with these direct drive racks that there may also be some serious safety concerns.. Please see this......

I read that OP topic as well. I'm just hopping is something as simple as the 5th Gen's neg ground and not a software or hardware issue unique to the alpha platform.

Actually if you notice that it does it on a certain road then go back and drive it again in the same spot. If it's a wide tire thing then it will happen every time in that spot. If it a electric steering problem then it won't matter what the road is like.

That's most certainly a possibility. If I do I will most certainly report back.

Interesting, maybe a ground issue, loose wire or bad connection. Will look into that and report back.

I was kinda hoping it was software related and a quick reflash would fix it.

Different places each time, not something I can replicate, at least at this point I think so.
