2 1LE's at SCCA Solo School at Dragon Stadium

Drove by Dragon Stadium in Southlake, TX this morning, and there was an autocross training class going on. I was a bit surprised as that parking lot has so many light poles. Stopped to check it out and discovered a yellow and red SS 1LE were participating. The guy in the yellow car did not even know about our forum and I did not see the driver of the red car, but wondered if he is on here. I believe they are going to have an actual autox tomorrow at Texas Motor Speedway.

I was the red one. Will be at TMS in cold tomorrow. New to auto cross, so, just want to do fair at the event.

Sorry I didn't get to meet you. Have fun today, thats the most important takeaway, don't worry about where you place.

For a true novice, I'm decently happy with the driver and very excited about the car. Finished 1st in Novice overall. However, the guys in AS with 1LE's were 0.2 to 4.3 seconds quicker than me. I still have a lot of learning to do.

Congrats on the 1st place finish. Now if you enjoyed that, try a track day event at Motorsport Ranch.

Here is a link that will give you some more info on the SCCA event:
https://www.scca.com/events/1987962-...-ranch-cresson

You'll need a helmet and will need to go through a tech inspection.

I'm starting to feel that the more results we see the more of a pipe dream leaving AS will become. At my first ever points event I won Novice, but I would have placed 3rd behind 2 VERY EXPERIENCED Drivers in a 2010 Cayman S (+0.8) and a C7 Z51 (+0.6)!

As a first timer I beat all the other competitors in A Street (2 C5 Z06's and a C6) by over 1.5 seconds!

The other guy in a SS 1LE ran the pro street tire class but he would have won A Street by over 1.2 seconds!

I'm afraid these cars are here to stay in A-Street.

All depends, this car just doesnt look like it can compete with well prepped Z06s but its times are very close to BS. Time will tell I guess. I plan to order a 1ss but I want a 1LE so bad i dont care if it isnt classed well lol

B-Street is not very competitive in my region so it would be easy wins. I'm sure it wouldn't be that way at the larger events though.

I think I agree now. Matt Lucas, a very seasoned Texas SCCA Solo (and more) driver jumped in a guy's 17 SS 1LE on cold tires. First time he ever sat in one, literally. In 43F weather with 50F track temp, his first run was clean and was within 0.158 of the quickest run of any of the Z06's ran all day in AS (3 C6Z's and 2 C5Z's). Some of the Vettes ran without a passenger each run, while Matt had a 200# passenger for each.

His normal car is a highly prepped Z06, so, he too was shocked at how good out of the box the car was, especially once some temp was in the tires.

Since I have never been to a HPDE, I signed up for the class before the TNIA event at Cresson, along with the event that afternoon / evening. Going to TWS on 3/25, too, but am going to take it easy. My son is down at Texas A&M, and I want to run around that track before it gets torn down.
