New member and ZL1
Hi all,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I just traded my 2016 BMW M3 in on a 2017 ZL1 today. The car before my M3 was a 2006 Pontiac GTO with heads, cam, intake, and I thought I'd try something new with the BMW. The M3 with its twin-turbo inline six motor didn't really pan out the way I thought, and I fell out of love pretty quickly and began a search for a new V8-powered replacement. The ZL1 popped up on my radar last year, and I spent quite a bit of time comparing and researching the ZL1, Hellcats, and GT350. Well, the Hellcats were just too big, I couldn't get a test drive or even MSRP pricing on a GT350, so here I am with a ZL1. Not that I settled, this is a fantastic car and I would have probably ended here anyways. I'm really impressed with this car thus far, based on my drive back to San Antonio from Houston. Anyways, here she is. Nightfall Gray Metallic, 6-speed manual, sunroof, PDR, exposed CF extractor, and navigation. Since I got home earlier I have removed the front license plate mount and the rear ZL1 logo.

Welcome. I too have an M3, but mine is a 2003, m6, 100% stock with 38,000 miles. And while I really like this car, I too wanted an American V8. Thus, I have a ZL1 on order with the A10. Enjoy your Zl1. Can't wait for mine.

It is unfortunate but the more modern BMW's just have not been the Ultimate Driving Machine for a number of years.
GM is not advertising the ZL1 much that I can see, but when they do, maybe they can borrow BMW's old tagline. More fitting now for the ZL1... The Ultimate Driving Machine. BMW does not seem to invest much into that old designation ethos anymore. Even their M4 is a mess. It lost to the Camaro SS in a number of head 2 heads. Does get better mileage...(a very weak yeah). You should really enjoy your new car! Great choice!
