ATF for TR6060?
In the process of getting all my fluids changed and moved over to synthetics. Im an Amsoil nut swinger and it has always served me well in the past. Im seeing that the TR6060 recommends ATF? Am I seeing things or is this correct..
Plan on switching the motor oil/ trans fluid and diff/ELSD fluid(GM fluid) and swaping over to some motul 600 for the brakes. Getting ready for it to start heating up and hitting the track! |

I know my last TR-6060, albeit years back, was not synthetic friendly...not sure if that has changed. May even want to call Tremec...

The T-56 in my '95 Camaro, which is a distant ancestor of the TR-6060 I think, specifies ATF as well. The Redline D4 was a big improvement over the GM or Mobil 1, so I'm sure the Amsoil will be as good or better than the RL was.

I used to use the GM Synchromesh in my T-56's with great results...I wonder if that is still around and usable in a TR-6060...I need to look.

Same here, my T-56 in my '01 SS calls for ATF. Theres a tag right on the side of the trans. I know Ford Rangers of long ago required ATF in their manuals as well. Not an uncommon thing, ATF has a high shear strength and flows better at colder temps than gear oil.

This transmission is the least of my concerns. I believe its the most bullet proof part of the whole car. The HP supplement doesn't even recommend flushing it after a track day or anything. I'm not touching the fluid until the it's recommended in the manual. I probably won't touch the trans fluid my entire ownership of the car!
