Rock chipped front lower quarters

Hey guys, I've been in the market for a 1LE for a few weeks now, and I'm running into an issue on both cars I've found locally. There are rock marks on one of the cars front lower quarters, and the other car, which has 300 miles on it has rock chips through the clear coat and paint. The clear protectant installed from the factory isn't high enough, too bad they didn't install the Xpel on that entire front lower panel. Am i the only person finding this? My plan was to drive the freshly purchased 1LE directly to a shop to get the Xpel installed, but I'm finding lightly to moderately damaged paint on all of them. Thanks in advance.

Chris

It's going to happen. I have 1500 miles and a couple of blemishes already and I've kept my distance. I guess I need to fix and do the coating. Everyone's different, but if you find one you like, you can get blemishes fixed. I used Dr paint chip on another car and it worked great. The worst drivers are those damn Ford pickup truck drivers. They always have completely exposed rear tires and kick up everything.

Hi Chris,

You are not alone. My current 1LE has that too, and I've only driven it from the dealer starting with 7 odometer miles to home, then back and forth to the dealer for repairs and evaluations for a grand total of 98 miles on the odometer now. I had your same idea of going right to the detailer for clear plastic protection film installation before stone chipping happened, but that didn't work out like I had planned. When my next one arrives in a few weeks I'll apply a couple layers of painter's tape to those areas to get it home and to the detailer.

Suntek PPF on entire front clip, headlights, led markers, rockers, and behind rear wheels. Screw rock chips and I will track this car a lot, so good PPF by a great installer goes on first.

I had my installer who did PPF on my whole nose remove the factory PPF on the rear quarters as well as they are much too small. Replaced them with much larger pieces that cover those areas fully...worth the extra $80 for sure...

Same here.

I did the entire front end, front fenders, mirrors, along with the rockers all the way to the back. I did not cover the hood. Figured I can have that re-wrapped if there is damage.

I figured with the soft, big meats on these cars, clear bra was a must.

I just checked mine, thankfully no damage. Looks like those flaps I put on are working.

Are you using the GM flaps or after market ones like zl1addons?

I have 7400 miles of driving on SC's crappy, dirty, debris covered freeways! Hopefully the splash shield will slow that down. On the driver's side I should get the PPF replaced already. Ugh!

that sucks, seattle has far less rocks, and since it's winter here I immediately swapped wheels/tires to a narrower set. the combination of Seattle, splash guards, and narrower tires (w/ less poke) have saved me so far.
