2SS vs ZL1, search didn't return a few questions I had.
We are in the market for a 2SS or ZL1 convertible and am trying to decide the smarter choice. We would like to be able to take our kids in the back for many years (1,3 years old now) so most concerns relate to maximizing space for them.
1. Do the Recaros retain the heated/ventilation? (looks like it) 2. Do the Recaros retain the memory feature? (looks like it) 3. Do the Recaros retain the height adjustment and does it sit higher/lower than the regular 2SS ones (I'm 6'5" and wife is 5'3" so we need a lot of range). 4. Do the Recaros give any more/less room for the rear passengers? (wondering if seat back is thinner). 5. I don't see any convertible ZL1s out there yet, any date when this is predicted? |

1) I don't believe they do, at least they didn't in my Corvette
2) Yes they retain memory feature 3) Yes they retain the height adjustment, you can program two different preferences with the key fobs (one each) Seats sit a little higher, they are more track focused seats. (this is in reference to the Corvette again) This is my take on it for what I've noticed, I may be wrong 4)It will be about the same regardless, the back seat is more child friendly and for your annoying brother-in-law. If you wanted to be petty, put an annoying friend in the back seat. 5)Not that I've seen, someone may have seen something. I'd give Becky a shout with Rodgers Chevrolet I'm sure she could give a better answer. To get a specific answer, I would try ordering one

5)... the very 1st ZL1 convertibles were built last week (Not many) and have not shipped yet.
You will be waiting a few months at best to get one, especially if it's automatic. Welcome to C6 forums. Ask all the questions you have here and I'm sure you'll get good answers...

I have a 2ss Convertible and in my opinion - based on your first criteria - kids for a long time in the back, you need a different car. Love mine but the back seats are a joke. You could most likely put your 1 and 3 year old in there now, but not for very long. And the trunk is barely big enough for a diaper bag. Just my .02

We already have a tundra and Xterra so no issues with longer trips or storage. Hoping for something fun for max 1 hour drive with kids. Options are very limited for for seat convertibles and things like M3s cost a fortune (plus the wife doesn't like the image the high end European brands portray). We are going to try out the seats and see if we can make them work this week.
We will be going with manual transmission, zl1 sounds pretty tempting will have to check if dealer has any allocations. |

This is a sports car. Unfortunately, the back seats are pretty much non-existent..................I go to the grocery store and I have to be pretty creative on how I haul stuff back home................
