What is the lower control arm cover's purpose?

I picked up my 2016 a few months ago and it had some parts in the trunk. I believe they are the deflectors and the lower control arm cover. What is the purpose of the lower control arm cover? What issues can result from not having it installed? Looks like I need to get back to the dealer. (Part 14 in the diagram)

I think those are the track only brake cooling ducts. They always put them in the trunk.

Strange that the cover was in your trunk and not installed.

They should have been installed. Mine were not installed either. These ARE NOT the brake cooling deflectors but some of the dealers unfortunately mistake them and leave them in the trunk.

Not.

Well - partly right. They do put the track brake ducts in the trunk for the SS models. But the parts #14 go on the rear lower control arms and should have been installed by the dealership prior to final delivery.

I took mine off, no need for in drag racing or just street. I strap mine down on the trailer over the control arm with an axle strap. You might also at some point want to jack the car up under the control arm

Is it the same for the new ZL1????
Because she's supposed to race more often...
May be she comes with this track deflector already in.
May be ZL1 lucky drivers may tell us about these parts........

Mine (part #14) were in my trunk when I picked her up, along with the track related brake items mentioned. I haven't put mine on either. Still not sure what they are supposed to protect. Protect the control arm against what?

They have no "track" purpose, they're there to protect the lower arm basically. I have seen alot of people leave them off.
