First AutoX Video and Photos Inside
First time in a RWD platform on AutoX. Ended up beating everything in my group other than a C6 Z06 with Sport Cup 2s. The car turns in just as well as my previous Mk7 Golf R with RE71s! I couldn't believe how sticky this car is and how well it responds. I included my PDR / Go pro footage of my last four runs and the photos taken on the course. Enjoy!

How did they do the groups that put a Z06 with you? I know in SCCA rules they are in different divisions. But hell yea man looks awesome and good work!

Cool, thanks for sharing!
The Z06 front wheel spat looks good in the action shots.

How do you like the ghost logos? I'd like to see them in a wider shot.

Very nice. That was a ton of slalom in that course! Looks like you had a little bit of the same issues as I had with throttle induced over steer but you did a great job of keeping it straight. I love seeing people tracking their cars.

Wow that PDR video is a really fantastic tool for autocross and track. How long have you been autocrossing BTW? Would you react negatively to some constructive criticisms about your driving in the videos?
According to SCCA classing the C6 Z06 is in A-Street with the 6th Gen 1LE. However Sport Cup 2s would not be allowed on a car running in a Street class since they are under 200 treadwear. The C7 Z06 on the other hand is in Super Street.

Had registered for the NTAXS event this last Saturday, but had some things come up. Going to try to run some of those this year, too. Went down to see my son at Texas A&M and attend an autocross down there. My second event ever - first one was last fall in my Cruze Eco. A bit of difference in the Eco and the SS 1LE. Been drag racing for years, but, the cones are all new.
Made eight runs, got faster on all of them, never hit a cone but had a couple of DNF's from missed gates coming in too hot, etc. Was monitoring tire temps. Pressures did not rise much, but, once the tire temps were above 110F, they got real greasy. Times for me started in mid-50 second range on this course, and I ended up with a 47.x in the four "elimination" runs, and three 44's in the four fun runs I made. This was a 44.6 with best of 44.000. All runs with a 180# passenger and my 200+# self. Ended up liking PTM Sport 1 the best on this day. Kept bogging it out of the hole, sometimes badly, between 2000-3000 rpm. It was a bit better using LC. Can't wait to get more seat time in this car! Hope to see the DFW and beyond guys out there. Last edited by RUQWIKR; 01-30-2017 at 08:07 PM. |

The event wasn't SCCA sanctioned and put on by a local s2000 enthusiast group. Classifications are very straightforward based on displacement. Anything above 3.9 liters was in my group. They have a handful a year and since this was the first opportunity to run, I took it! The C6 Z06 that beat me mentioned he doesn't run these very often, mostly HPDE events at a nearby track, which he offered to include me as a guest for much less than I could do on my own! TL;DR I'm open to any and all Criticism!

OP's call of course, but that could benefit all of us. I am a very seasoned drag racer, but a novice at this...
