OFF TOPIC: NEED A ROOFER

HELP!

I'm reaching out to my Camaro contacts, in the GTA, asking for referrals to a good and reliable roofer that services the south York Region area (Thornhill/Richmond Hill) or the GTA in general.

I had mine done through Home Depot a year and a half ago. You pay more than the fly-by-night crews but you get a lifetime warranty and they did a superb job.

Thanks, but no thanks, I got a quote from them, they're outrageous, even with a 15% discount added.

My biggest frustration, is when you call some companies, they tell you that someone will call you back to set up a time to come out, and NO ONE CALLS!

The search continues...

I own a roofing company over 30 years in business. Check out a certified GAF roofer in your area. Just go to the GAF roofing website and you can put in your zip code. It will give you a few companies in your area. Roofing estimates will vary take your time and get a couple of them. I wouldn't go with the highest but definitely don't go the cheap route.

Thanks for the info about GAF, didn't know they had a reference section on their site, I'll look into that.

In the mean time I'm doing a regional search online and have over half a dozen companies lined up to call.

I started in January so I could have time to get quotes and make a decision before the busy season starts, and I'm able to get an early season booking.

Another good place to get references would be any of your local roofing material distributers. They should give you companies that are keeping up with their account's and billing.

For what its worth, Cherry & Clark was the sub-contractor that did my roof through Home Depot. They've been around since 1972. I also went with the GAF shingles. Also, I wouldn't recommend having shingles installed until warmer weather arrives. The tabs won't get enough sun/heat to "stick" together.

Thanks.
Yeah, I don't plan on doing this until at least Spring, but I thought I would get the quotes done now, and arrange an install later, before the busy season comes.
So far, my experience is that no one seems interested in returning my calls to arrange for quotes and/or is interested in lining up potential work.
