So..... check engine light?!

So didn't drive the car for a week, start it up hear a light ticking sound and sputtering off and on while driving. Drove again today with fresh gas only been using shell 93 gas. Starts sputtering more and check engine light pops on. So ill keep everyone updated after dealership takes it tomorrow and see what they say.......

Sounds like a lifter. I pray not. Had that happen to me in my brand new 98 Cavalier. It had maybe 200 miles on it.

This type of nonsense gets me worried about ordering the car... I figured it would be safe to order a newly introduced zl1 because the motor has been around for a few years now. 70k for a car and people are dealing with this? Makes me concerned. Total count of check engine lights on this forum is already up to like 3 or 4. I could be wrong. I had a 500hp evo x full bolt ons, e85, tuned. Never once did I ever see a check engine light. Ever. 36k i paid for the car in 2011. Here we have a stock zl1 with a few miles on it. Not bashing the car I currently have on order but like wtf. Hopefully just a bad batch of gas... did you fill up when they were filling up pumps? Clogged fuel filter?

Sounds like you should cancel your order.

You did better then me mine through a cel on the ride home from the dealer. Supposedly bad 02 sensor or connection. They replaced it and it did not come back on on the 5 mile ride home. I haven't driven the car since because I'm pursuing legal action against the dealership for heavy marring on the car. Hopefully yours is something simple, you should have gotten an email from onstar telling you why the cel was on...at least I did as soon as it came on. Also you can just contact onstar and ask, I think it might even show you in the Chevrolet app. Good luck!

Stuff happens. This is far from rare - certainly nothing to get bent out of shape over. Also - $$ has nothing to do with the reliability of a vehicle...no matter how much you pay, it's still a collection of moving parts. Can't help but have a certain percentage of failures. Look at the few Porsche GT3s a few years ago that were setting on fire, spontaneously. $180,000 didn't stop that from happening.

Hopefully this is routine, and easily fixed. If not? Warranty is there for a reason.

I mostly agree, but lets all just keep calm. Cost does play a factor I think after you break the $500K mark! ijs

Well as long as there is a human factor at any price stuff will still happen. That 2 million dollar Bugatti that Frans worked on the day after he went out and partied for his 45th birthday just might have an issue or two. Just saying, but yes one would expect that the higher the price the less problems one should have. But one could also buy a base model Civic and never have an issue with either. So on that thought price has nothing to do with warranty issues, that's why cars come with one. The day a new car doesn't have a warranty is when one will have the perfect car.

yep... You would just think as a consumer a 2 Million dollar Bugatti would never be a Lemon.

Yeah this happened with my dads '13 427 Vette too. Check engine light, warning on the DIC, ended up just being a plug wire.
