Hypermiling the 2SS

Got stuck in traffic the other day and discovered you can actually get some mileage out of the SS if you just go within 10% of the speed limit on highways, 70-77.

30.9 mpg for 25 miles! (I normally average 18-20mpg combined.)

It's not very satisfying, as the car is in V4 mode most of the time, but I did not really believe such mileage is possible.

My 50 mile score was 29.8mpg, but the overall tank ended up at 23mpg.

Of course, all numbers are high by 1 mpg, which seems to be a tradition of every car I have ever owned that displays mileage. Always high by a full mpg.
American, German, British, all overrate mileage by 1.

Post any better numbers you have! Must be a V8, or its cheating.

Looks like you have Sport mode activated and this may (not sure about the V8) keep gears in gear a bit longer before shifting. This is independent of the competition/performance shifting mode.

30 is good though for the hp the motor is capable of. The V6 eeks out 42-44 mpg over similar types of trips. The I4 is probably somewhere in between due to the turbo.

My 14 Vette I averaged 34.7 over 50 miles at 65mph. Haven't tried Camaro yet.

I took a trip that was 110 miles and got 29.5 miles according to the readings on the dash. Not bad for a v8 (A8). All highway miles.

Wow, 65mph....it's all I can do to keep it in the low 70's. I would think the flooring it you would have to do on the uphills would negate the savings.

The "L" is Logic mode on the V1....no falses! Not that I needed it for that drive.
It's weird how you can get 50% better mileage, and you are immune to tickets at the same time...

About the same as what mine will on the freeways. It's the same as my little focus 5m will get, except I don't have to hear a 4cyl wound up tight. Lol

The best I've gotten was about 30 for 110 mile trip with a bunch of hills. Since I've installed the Supercharger its about 23 mpg. The weather is pretty cold here in Missouri so mileage is down a couple. A buddy and I went to the LS fest in bowling green ky and it was a 435 mile trip and we got about 27 running about 80-85. Don't judge me, it was fast traffic. Ha.

Up north we have winter mix gas which is normally down a few MPGs in the winter. I don't know if the folks down south get the same blend, but something to think about anyways. You may get better mileage in the spring/summer.

For some reason I always get better gas mileage, especially in city, in sport over tour mode.

I bought the 2SS for the fuel mileage. In the middle of the summer, this was my best.
