Light Seat Mods and new Gen6 Seat Mounts/Base Brackets...

I cross posted this thread with the Auto X section... but I realized alot of folks might just want nice aftermarket seats not particularly for tracking/racing....

While I may be getting some relatively aggressive seats, the seat base brackets I will be getting developed and fabricated by Planted will benefit anyone interested in getting aftermarkets seats into their Gen 6 Camaro....

I went down to the L.A. area to meet some Camaro6 members, talk cars, do some prep and research work on my future mods...

I had a chance to finally sit in a number of seats and found that not only was the seat I finally chose more supportive than the Misano's but also more COMFORTABLE.

COBRA SUZUKA PRO GT

https://www.subesports.com/cobra/suz...t-gt/cob-10050

Using the Pro-Fit System you can swap different thicknesses/ and densities of foam, and by getting the GT version for its extra 30 mm width... its easy for me to get out and in... and I can add thicker padding for track days....

I really felt IN the seat rather than ON top of it when I test fitted.... I can't stress how important it is to try and get yourself to a shop that has many different seats so you can see what works best for YOU....

on top of all that... the seats weigh even less than the Misanos, between 17-19lbs

Now in order to take advantage of a sale price, I am tempted to buy one before my car is delivered....

I am hoping someone on the forum might spare a few minutes to measure the dimensions of their seat area and compare it to the measurements of this seat.

If I can confirm this will fit no problem, I will pull the trigger shortly and will provide my car as a mule to get some Gen6 Camaro seat mounts designed and fabricated for our cars....

I know a shop that is interested in doing this... so the sooner the better for everyone!

Current Recaros are ~ 20.5" wide. From center console to door sill, you have about 22.75" to work with.

Also, while I do like competition, were you aware that Brey-Krause already makes seat brackets for our cars?

Not sure how tall you are, but verify shoulder height - particularly with the harness slots.
Only the bigger seats might have fitment issues with the width of the cushion and the shoulder wings.
21"/22" is about max width, you want to be able to center the seat.

It would be neat if Planted came up with a way to keep the seat sensors....

It's one of the features I will ask them to consider addressing

Thanks much for replies for far!

Would you say that approximates the "A" area of the seat diagram?

Planted makes some pretty good base brackets... and like you said it's always a good idea to have more than one company having a monopoly...

I'll 2nd the thought that if they want to sell a lot of brackets they should include a plug-and-play harness to keep the airbags/sensors happy. That's the main obstacle to people replacing seats that have integrated airbags in a new car.
