Ambiguity on the RS package?

Hi Camaro6! I am curious to know if anyone has any formation on this.
I have been researching the 6th gen for a while now and it's getting closer to that time when I am ready to purchase. Essentially, I am interested in a 2SS but without a V8, so I have decided to go with a 2LT RS V6.

What I am very confused about is the interior Spectrum lighting. In the Camaro manual, the RS package does not include it, but I have seen many with it and many without it.

I have asked one dealer around me and the kind gent there informed me that it is somewhat of a random thing that happens. He also said that in these vehicles, some features are missing or "substituted". For example, the spectrum lighting would be included, but the Bose Audio would not be included. Is this accurate?

Most 2LT RS will come with NPP and spectrum lighting. In fact I haven't seen a 2LT RS without these options yet. Although I've seen the 1LT RS and 2 litre Turbo with RS package come without the spectrum lighting.

It is an option with the 2LT package and standard on the 2SS. Not available on 1SS or 1 LT.

Sounds like the salesperson was confused or misinformed. I don't think GM installs options randomly on any of the cars.

If you look through the 2017 Order Guide you will see RPO Code C70:

Lighting, interior spectrum, 24 different color selections
1 - Included and only available with (ZN2) Convenience and Lighting Package.

It is an option on the 2LT and standard on the 2SS and ZL1.

I purchased the convenience package for the blind zone alerts and HUD and was not that concerned with the spectrum light but after having it a while it's a nice option and gets plenty of attention at the drive through.

The RS package on LT models is an additional option(is standard on SS models). If you get the 2LT, leather cooled/heated seat the Bose sound system and big screen will be included but not the spectrum lighting. The spectrum lighting, digital dashboard cluster, blind spot alert, HUD and heated steering wheel are an additional option all come bundled in one package forgot the specific name... something along the lines Electronic convenience package.

Does the lighting and convenience package offer the foot well lighting too? On the Canadian website, it shows the foot well as an additional option...

Play with the Camaro Builder on the Chevy website and you'll quickly get a feel for what is included with each trim level (1LT, 2LT, 1SS, or 2SS) and what is an optional addition.

The RS option includes bigger rims, a deck spoiler, and LED headlights. It was a no-brainer for me. The Bose upgrade is an optional addition for the 1LT as part of the "Technology package", I believe it comes standard on the 2LT. Along with the better brand of speaker, you also get the larger touchscreen. I haven't gotten confirmation on this but, I believe the 2LT and 2SS also have an additional center speaker standard.

"NPP" exhaust is a reference that Chevy nerds use for the "dual-mode" exhaust. It is an option (though many would argue, also a no-brainer) at all trim levels, I believe. This would go for the Sunroof as well.

I believe the interior lighting is part of the optional convenience package, as Glen mentioned.

Not real sure how it works, but I believe the dealer will order cars once they receive allocation. At that time, the dealer will specify what vehicles they want and with what options. I don't think there is anything random about it.

You may have a hard time finding a car with all the options you want... But you can always order one any way you like it (with spectrum lighting and the Bose sound system).

Most of the 3 digit/letter terms you see thrown around on camaro / car enthusiast forums are order codes (rpo codes) for various options. It's the easiest way to identify something without marketing lingo - which changes definitions as it sees fit.

Some of these get converted into common names you'll see as trims (z28, 1le, etc). Always a good idea to go find your rpo codes list and look them all up to get familiar with them.
