Borla S-Type

I'm looking real hard at the borla S Type axleback for my 2016 Camaro SS. I see several videos posted on YouTube with the S-Type. I'm looking for some fly bys and both cruzing speed and higher rpm. I'm very close to pulling the trigger, but have not physically Heard and gen 6 with an exhaust. Looking for something louder, deeper and something sounding good. I think the atak is a bit to much for me. There is a video by Gary De Graff on YouTube (blue camaro) but has a mid pipe an X pipe. Love the sound of that car, but looking to compare it to an axleback system.

Borla has posted a very detailed video of everything you've asked for on YouTube. Just go to Borla's youtube page and search for 2016 camaro.

After pondering several ways to go with Borla (that was my only choice), I elected to go with the S-Type Catback. Not installed as of yet, as the car is still in winter storage. The sound clip mentioned above is VERY good........

I thought they say it won't fit the convertible?

I also will be buying the s type axle back...
The borla video is great but it looks to me like the photos is of a cat back and not axel back, which would sound a bit different.
Was the video of just axel backs?

The Borla videos include the whole catback system which also replaces the factory X pipe. These are the X pipe systems listed on their site.

If you only install the axle back it will still sound good but it will sound a tad different than what you hear in the video. The reason is that Borla uses a real X pipe vs the factory stamped X pipe. This creates a different tone as the exhaust pulses don't create a collision zone with the Borla X. The good news is you can always add the Xpipe at a later time if you don't want to fork out the money for the whole setup at once.

It's actually the "axle back" - I just looked at my Invoice, and it is specifically the Borla 16 Chevy Camaro SS 6.2L w/ Dual NPP S-Type 11924. I checked with the Vendor before purchasing and was told it will. I haven't installed it yet.........

This is from the Website:

Camaro Borla S-Type Axle-Back Exhaust System #11924 - Rear Section

*Fits 2016-2017 Camaro SS models w/ Quad Exhaust Tips and NPP/Dual Mode Exhaust Valves

This system is for vehicles equipped with dual tips and NPP (dual mode exhaust). The ATAK® system is our most aggressive sounding system.

Part #: 11924
Product Type: Rear Section Exhaust
Pipe Diameter: 2.75" into muffler dual 2.5" out
Tip Size: 4.0"
Tip Description: Dual Round Rolled Angle-Cut
Tip #: 47
Exit: Dual Split Rear Exit

It does not say anything about not fitting the convertible. Now I'm getting REALLY nervous about it.......... I'll send another e-mail to the Vendor.......

I have been looking at the videos for weeks now. Pretty much planning on the borla S-type. I was just hoping to see some better flyby videos. The borla videos are great, was just kinda looking for some more flyby videos. Ohh well. I will get it ordered in a few weeks. Thank you guys

I installed the Borla S type axle back with NPP and I was just not that impressed with the sound. I, too, thought the ATAK would be a bit much for me but the valves close quickly and the sound goes down. I wired in a relay that I read in other posts and set the valves to be open pretty much all the time. Well, maybe not at 5:30 am when I go to work.

Could you post some videos of the set up you got tiger. That would give us folks on the fence a better idea.
Do you regret your borla s purchase?

I have the Borla S-Type Axleback, it sounds more agreesive and deeper than stock, it removes the tin can sound of the stock exhaust. Even if sometimes it's louder than normal, I'm happy with it. On the street my car is noticed, so I can only imagine how loud the atack is.

Remember Borla, incorporated their sound levels on the open position for the NPP, so the closed position is always somehow quiet.

I agree with your accessment. I think the NPP valves close much too soon and too often.
