Lowest MPH in 6th gear without lugging?
Was wondering what's the lowest speed everyone is going in 6th gear in an SS M6 without dangerously lugging the motor too low in RPMs? Me 50 is the lowest.

I'm around 55mph. I typically just go by RPM. I shift into 6th at 2k when I'm playing with trying to get better mileage.

The answer is...it depends...
Lugging is a product of two variables...engine speed (rpm) and throttle position. The lower the rpm, the less tolerant an engine is for open throttle. You can cruise at 1000 rpm in sixth gear on flat land with hardly any throttle at all and you are not lugging the engine. Now, go to pass someone or climb a steep grade where you need to really open up the throttle and you are now lugging the engine.

I don't know about the M6, but I can tell you on the A8 (in manual mode), it will hold onto 8th gear when cruising on flat ground (steady throttle) until somewhere in 40 or even high 30 mph range. Seems like it won't force a shift down until 800-900 rpm.
I might not be remembering that correctly, but I do remember trying it out a while back and it surprised me how slow I could go before it would shift down.

I found 6th to be worthless unless I'm going 80+

I use 6th as low as 46 mph depending on road conditions.

Yea I guess it depends on the situation y'all.. I figured 50-55 the bare minimum and if I need to accelerate I can go to 5th. Makes u wonder when the 1-4 shift kicks in if it's dangerous for the car or not. Less than 20mph in 4 gear and it sounds like it's lugging. Hmm GM
