Camaro SS Audio

First off, I know I should search the forum but I am simply looking for an economical method for improving the sounds quality of my 2SS. I traded a 2013 Mustang GT Premium in on my Camaro and really miss the sound system in the Mustang. In my opinion, all other items (interior, looks, performance of engine, etc) are better than the Mustang I had. The poor sound quality (lack of subwoofer, etc.) of the Bose system needs to be improved. Can I get buy by changing a couple of speakers or do I need a system re-do? Thanks!

There is no cheap solution, the Bose has too much Bass roll off.

I agree on the Bose. I am worried about removing the active noise cancellation, though, that runs through the Bose amp. Does the car drone really bad without it? I would hate to get a better sounding stereo and then have an annoying drone.

I have added a sub (JL 12w6) to my truck and replaced the 2.5 with 3.5 kappa perfects in the dash and replaced the front door speakers with cdt 6x9s. I'm running two JL amps. One Slash 600/1 and a JL 400/4 I wanted to recreate the sound of the factory but much better sounding. I feel like with just touching the front 4 and and a sub I have done that. I also unpugged the rear deck 6x9s and am going to remove them eventually.

I dont agree though that there is much roll off in bass for the bose system. I just think there isnt much bass besides the door 6x9s and anyone looking for shaker like bass needs a sub or at very least try the cdt 6x9 subs. I was really surprised how they sound. Much better then factory door 6x9s.

OK...

You must know about Audio quality then. It is not a matter of personal taste, it is a fact of lower frequencies being cut at higher volumes vs mid and high frequencies. Get some equipment, test the system and then you will see.

There's another user on here, GlenE, I believe, that had some thoughts posted for setting the stock system. He, along with another member, were discussing Treble and Bass settings. They seemed to have knowledge of, and enjoyed, the stock system.

I would be interested if anyone changed the stock speakers and nothing else and had some improvements in sound without messing up the ANC. I have played with the audio settings but I feel like I need to cut the midrange even more than it will let me.

I as well as others have noted no difference without the ANC, and it will only work properly with the stock speakers. If you upgrade them the new ones will have different response and/or resistance so the ANC will produce weird thumps.

Joe,

I would love to see some actual data from the bass roll off. What tests did you run what equipment was used. I would love to know when the bass roll off happens so I could correct it. Using only my ears I dont hear it but it could in fact be there. Would love to see some data.
