Distracted Drivers

Irene is in ICU after a jacka$$ that was on his cell phone smacked my rear end while I was sitting at a stop light. He was doing about 45 mph when he hit me and I woke up about 100 yds from the impact point in the middle of the highway, I did not see or hear anything. A properly adjusted seat and headrest will greatly enhance survivability and decrease injury. Ugh. Less than 3000 miles on her and I am confident they can rebuild both of us...faster, stronger. Could have been a lot worse.

For God sake get off yer damn phone and focus on the task at hand!

We have VERY strict laws against distracted driving here. And for VERY good reason.:

Careless driving
You could face more charges – for careless driving – if you endanger other people because of any kind of distraction. This includes distraction caused by both hand-held (e.g., phone) or hands-free (e.g., Bluetooth) devices.

If convicted of careless driving, you may receive:

six demerit points
fines up to $2,000 and/or
a jail term of six months
a licence suspension of up to two years
You could even be charged with dangerous driving – a criminal offence that carries heavier penalties, including jail terms of up to 10 years for causing bodily harm or up to 14 years for causing death.

It drives me CRAZY with people doing this. So sorry to hear about your car SGDM, but am happy you were not severely injured.....

Hopefully some criminal charges get filed against the idiot. At least it'll be one less mistake behind a wheel.

I see people on their phones all the time and it drives me crazy. Thank you for posting this. You may have saved a life or more. I'm glad you're going to be okay. Sad to see someone innocent like this suffer.

Glad you are ok. This drives me crazy, why people think they are so skilled as to drive a car while looking at a phone!
As a motorcyclist as well, I am very leary about this huge problem.

Which is why I actually support autonomous driving technology for those who cannot, and/or do not want to drive. It keeps those who enjoy driving safer.

Sorry about what happened.

Glad your okay brother! I hope they press charges to the fullest extent. Get well soon! but Why is it that females love to talk on the phone using their hands rather than using the hand free technology. Am I the only one that notices that? and You shouldn't be on neither if it going to get you distracted from the road tho.
