Question Testing the waters...

I'm not sure if you even want to see this stuff or if it's even socially acceptable to post this but it was a great barometer for this motor's capability IMHO. Mods, feel free to delete this post and I'll limit posts to track day use only.

The back story: I tracked a 2015 Mk7 Golf R with a tune that was good for 380 hp and about 400 tq to the crank and I still have many friends in the VW community. Last night for fun, Disclaimer: filmed in Mexico, a similar Golf R and a "big turbo" GTI with about the same power (and lighter weight) decided to test the LT1 out. In addition, a B8 S4 with a tune and pulley upgrade joined us in Mexico.

The results: Both the GTI and the Golf R are 3,100 and 3,400 lbs respectively and the S4 is about 3,800 lbs. All cars were manuals and after several runs from 40 mph and 70 mph I can definitively say I made the right upgrade. The S4 was neck and neck and as you'll see the GTI and R didn't stand a chance.

This will not be everyone's cup of tea because of course, this is a track weapon, not a drag car! BUT, no track days in Texas in December. AND, I believe that comparisons should be done in every manageable way and both of these cars will be joining me all Spring for track work and AutoX events.

TL;DR - Posting a video that you all probably will roast me for but maybe one guy will enjoy it and it'll all be worth it

I'm surprised the S4 was that close.

IBTD.

i'm surprised the golf's didn't keep up off the line. It seems like they weren't at a high enough rpm off the line to be in full boost. Looks like all the lag from the modifications screwed them up. As far as the 1LE vs the S4....i'm surprised the s4 pulled on it like that. The 1LE looked like it let off cause it couldn't catch it. or maybe even keep up with it who knows.

I had a modified Volvo C30 with a straight 5 turbo good for 300hp and 350lbs of torque. So yeah...people will be interested in this!
