How is the ride height? (thinking of getting 1LE suspension)
GM is coming out with the 1LE suspension upgrade which includes the 1LE MRC calibration and for $1,125 it sounds like a good buy for those of us that like to track our cars but want to use GM components to protect the track warranty ( http://www.thatgmpartsguy.com/suspen...45?parent=1034 ).
So how is the ride height now that they are out on the roads? I know the pre-production wheel gap was atrocious. Does it sit any lower than the non-1LE SS? I'm debating between this and a set of track focused aftermarket springs. I'll probably be buying the OEM 1LE wheels as well when I need new tires. They're only about $800 more than the reproductions (sorry for the tangent). |

The SS 1LE's sit a little lower than a standard SS (verified by a member here who has both). The production cars are much lower then that prototype shown at the Chicago show. I usually lower my cars, but this one may be okay as is and I won't have to deal with all the possible issues lowering a car with MRC.
This is a forum members...I think it sits really good once settled from the delivery and such. |

Personally, I think the ride height is perfect.

I still think it needs an 1/2 inch - inch all around. I see some pictures and think wow its perfect, then others I am not feeling it. For example the Summit White 1LE that motortrend took a ton of the high res pictures of, it looks perfect.

I wouldn't judge the ride height based solely on appearance. GM put some thought into this and I think its at a good height for street driving. That said, it is definitely lower than a standard SS. My 1LE is scrapping on the splitter entering the driveway, that was not the case for the 50th anniversary model.

If it was any lower it would be scraping everywhere.

I do agree with the function over form sentiments... If you can get similar spring rates in a lower package. I would think the effects should be negligible. Although the GM engineers have forgot more than I think I know

I wonder if the flash for the MRC re-calibration also adds all of the 1LE track modes on the stability control/ALB. I'm going to say no, since I believe the 1LE uses the e-diff in conjunction with the stability control.

Yes the eLSD is an integral part of PTM, but either way I believe Chevy will want to keep PTM exclusive to the Zs and the 1LE.

My guess would be that it only adjusts the dampers but I could be wrong. It may slightly adjust stabilittrac performance mode because of the different sway bars also. But who knows.
