Anybody stationed at Aviavo AB, Italy?

Is anyone here stationed at aviano? I just got notified that I have an upcoming assignment there & with this being my first tour overseas I had a few questions. Is it true that if you have tint they make you strip it off during inspection? What are the emissions laws? because I'm planning on possibly doing headers & full exhaust before I leave the states & do insurance rates rise up ridiculous amounts? If anyone is there or has been there I'd really appreciate your input

I have been to Aviano many times. Loved the place. As I remember insurance was better than here in the states. But you will have to wait to see what it is .... today. I found that Emissions laws did not come into play. You will have to wait til you get your sponsor packet and it should give you all the info you need. But really sit back and enjoy. Its a great place. I love it. But it is the fast pace base in our military responses to on going activities in that area. Be ready to work hard, play and enjoy a great assignment

Thanks again for the peace of mind! Of course I feel some woes about going overseas but I feel like I'm gonna love it over there!

Save yourself the headache and wait to mod the car until you get back to the states. Or at least find the reg that the vehicle inspection center uses and make sure it doesn't say anything about altering the vehicle's emission system or noise levels. I took a cammed 2000 Camaro with long tubes and no cats to Ramstein and it was more trouble than it was worth. I imagine Aviano will be a lot like Ramstein because they are both USAFE so I'm comparing it to that. Ramstein made you strip any tint on the front windows, car couldn't have anything hanging lower than a certain height (my long tubes hung below this point), car couldn't be over a certain amount of decibels at a certain RPM, etc..... Lots of rules and headaches for modded cars. Might be totally different for Italy but check before you do anything.
