Financing and Interest Rate Questions

I will be taking delivery of my 1LE this month and want to get my financing situation squared away. Previously, I have purchased my cars in cash and never financed. I do in fact want to finance this time around. So with that said....I have a 750+ plus credit score with squeaky clean history + putting half down.

Gm Financial ? Experiences?
Whats a decent interest rate right now? (loaded question, I know)
What kind of interest rates are you guys securing?
Should I go private rather than through GM? My father had good experience with FMC financing in the past.

Thanks for your input.

I let the dealer get me a loan but it was not any special gm deal or anything. Ended up at 2.39% for 72mo thru Wells Fargo.

Chevrolet.com is offering 2.9% for 60 months right now with GM financial. Personally I think you could get better privately. I got a 72 month loan which typically has a higher rate for 2.69% through Chase. Capital One offered me 2.71%. My advice is to shop around yourself. More often than not you will get a lower rate on your own rather than going through your dealer.

That's a pretty decent rate. Do you suggest I contact them directly to get pre approved?

Any credit union worth their salt can get you under 2% for 72 months.

If you reside in San Diego, Riverside or San Bernardino county try Pacific Marine Credit Union. They have rates as low as 1.47% for 60 months and 1.97% for 72 months.

I was pre-approved through Chase for 1.99% 60 months and that's what I told my dealer. Dealer matched it with one of their lenders. Me thinks I could have got a lower APR If I told them I was pre-approved for less. Damn it lol.

My credit union and dealer were going back and fourth (through me). Ended up with 2.39% for 72 months from dealership. Two hard checks total on credit.
