Drive straight through your stock tires at the track. I was seeing better lateral G's on those tires than I do on my 285/305 Nitto NT 555G2s. They do get a little greasy once they're hot.

I have 3 full track-days (14, 20 minute sessions) on my stock run on flats and only the outer shoulders are showing wear.
In MY experience, they hold up very well. I only had them get greasy on the last session (10 of10) on a 2 day event after i had gotten comfortable with the car and really pushed it to the limits. I put them on par or slightly better than the Michelin Pilot Super Sports I had on my 5th gen 1LE, and I never though in a million years I would say that!

I ran multiple track days on the stock tires, and they did great, traction was excellent, and did not have any chunking. They only get a little greasy at extreme tire temps. Due to the run-flat's stiff sidewall, you can (and should) run a lower tire pressure than you might think. For me, if I let them get up to or over 39 psi, then they start to get greasy. If I kept them below that I could push them all day.

Consider that all the OE tests, and magazine reviews are done on OE tires. And those numbers were nearly as fast as the old 1LE.
I have found...in past years...that some people have an inherent bias to tires, regardless of experience or data....like many other branded products. ![]() Enjoy your track day!!

Did 6 track days on stock tires. They did better than expected. I think it's not a bad idea to start with stock as part of your leaning curve. Learn the car and the track then work on improving your lap times.
Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like the stock tires are the way to go for the first few trackdays. Appreciate all the feedback.

Putting great tires on masks your mistakes.....bad idea, as this could come back to bite you in a bad way. Learning on slippery tires is fine as you learn to control the car, plus it could be something small like air pressure causing them to be greasy. Start at 29psi and look for 35/36 hot....

I would use them up before buying new ones. I was going to do that but I took advantage of a partial sponsorship opportunity that saved me quite a bit of money.

I used mine up in a weekend instructing, I get them way too hot. Replaced with RS3s that I get 5/6 days out of. A less experienced driver will be fine on the stock tires, and they did wear evenly.

29/30 to start, I'm never very specific, usually coming off track around 35 on all four corners.
